Here’s what I love about photographing families (and yes, this is from weeks ago before craziness hit the world) – each home and each interaction is completely different. I can’t use the same pose, the same prompt, or the same feeling in two spaces no matter how many similarities there are.
I was invited a little ways from my parents’ home in Syracuse, New York to photograph The Boellman family and it’s like I’m the third or fourth wheel while they’re hanging out. And I love it. I got little Emily to warm up to me which usually involves very small children needing to hold my very expensive camera or showing them up on my Disney knowledge, but this time it was just my name she was impressed with, so there’s that!
Bob, Chelsea, and Emily spent time playing, reading, and relaxing together (there was also snacking together, but two-year-old life…) and I hung around to take images they can keep forever – a simple afternoon in their home. My fav.
Chelsea is an ER nurse and like all our healthcare workers tirelessly keeping us safe, I’m so thankful for her service. Take a scroll through at a few favorites!
